AMRITA RAO:-Playing the Official Taster

Amrita Rao:- The official taster

Friday, Nov 5, 2010, 10:51 IST | Agency: DNA

t’s not everyday that Bollywood actors get to toss their dieting plans and health regimes out of the window. But Diwali is a pretty valid excuse for most to do just that. For actor Amrita Rao too, Diwali’s just the perfect reason to binge and forget about the calorie count. “Diwali’s always been very special to me,” she says excitedly, as she talks about her love for the festival. “Diwali brings to mind fond childhood memories,” she says.

Over the years, however, Diwali has come to mean much more than just that to the pretty actor. “Now I associate Diwali more with giving than just taking, lighting diyas, than bursting crackers and distributing sweets than just eating them,” she says.

The actor — who takes a few days off from her hectic shooting schedule every year around Diwali — doesn’t only spend time re-bonding with her cousins and family, but also keeps aside time to spend it with underprivileged children from various NGOs.

But this is one aspect of her celebrations that Amrita doesn’t like revealing about much and it’s only after much coaxing that she talks about it.

“Every year, I make sure that I take an off during Diwali to spend time with family. I hate to be away from home during this festival, but more than family, I do look forward to spending time with kids from various NGOs. Their smiles make my Diwali worthwhile. I consider myself lucky to be able to touch so many hearts and make their festival special in whatever way I can,” says the actor who’s been actively involved with several NGOs.

.As for the home-front, Amrita admits that the Rao household is geared up for Diwali like it does every year.
“I get to be the sweet-taster, during the cooking sessions,” she laughs. Quite a privileged position, considering her cousins are vying for the same job, she reveals.

As for the big day, Amrita reveals that it’s a long list of to-dos. “There’s the morning puja, the bathing rituals, then the Laxmi puja in the evening and also lighting the diyas,” she says.
And what’ll she be praying for? “Peace, happiness, love, good health and interesting work,” she ends.

Amrita’s Italian food fetish

Amrita’s Italian food fetish

AMRITA RAO SAYS GANAPATI BAPPA MORYA

Amrita Rao :-“For me Lord Ganesh has always been this cute friend who I rely on 24X7! So I’m really excited about celebrating the Ganesh Chaturthi.”(Published: Saturday, Sep 11, 2010, DNA)

Petite actress Amrita Rao will be visiting the community Ganesha idol kept at Wadala, Mumbai.

“I have always made it a point to visit that pandal every year since my childhood. The best part about that pandal is that the huge idol of Ganesha over there is completely eco-friendly. It is made with eco-friendly paints and dissolves in water immediately. It is upsetting to see the Plaster of Paris idols that destroy the sanctity of our environment.”

She adds, “We also make this sweet Marathi dish, which is like a modaka, but is deep fried.”

Ganesh Shlok
Vakratunda Mahakaaya

Suryakoti Samaprabha

Nirvighnam Kuru Mey Deva

Sarva Kaaryeshu Sarvada

Meaning:The Lord with the curved trunk and a mighty body, who has the luster of a million suns, I pray to thee Oh Lord, to remove the obstacles from all the actions I intend to perform.

GANESH GAYATHRI
Tatpurushaaya Vidmahe

Vakratundaaya Dheemahe

Tanno Danthihi Prachodayaat

Meaning: We meditate on that super power, we invoke the single tusked boon giver, Ganesh

 Ganesha: Lord of Success
Ganesha -The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four) whose idolatry is glorified as the panchayatana puja
What Ganesh Stands For
Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. The snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

Ganesha has four arms which symbolize his status as the universal ruler and establish his power over the four categories of beings - those who can live only in water, those who can live in water and on earth, those who can live only on earth and those who can fly in air. Significance of four : It was god Ganesha who instituted the four castes and the four Vedas. One hymn in Sri Bhagavat Tattva , says: 'In heaven, this child will establish the predominance over gods, on earth over men, in the nether world over anti-gods and serpents. He causes the four principles of the elements to move and is therefore four armed. In one hand, he holds a shell, in another a discus, in the third a club or a sweet and in the fourth a lotus.' Thus, all aspects of Ganesh's form are filled with symbolic meanings.
Two Shaktis Of Ganesh
Ganesha has two Siddhis (symbolically represented as wives or consorts): Siddhi (success) and Riddhi (prosperity). Wherever there is Ganesh, there is Success and Prosperity~ Wherever there is Success and Prosperity~ there is Sri Ganesh.

Produced by : Kamal Kumar Barjatya, Rajkumar Barjatya and Ajit Kumar Barjatya
Associate Producers : Sooraj R. Barjatya and Rajjat A. Barjatya
Music : Sandesh Shandilya

Story Line

LOVE U... MR. KALAKAAR! is about Sahil (Tusshar), a cartoonist, an artist who derives his inspiration from emotions that come from the sky, from the earth, a scrap of paper, a passing shape, a spider's web, while Ritu (Amrita) is a management trainee, whose world revolves around debits, credits, turnovers, profits, deadlines. She falls in love with Sahil. Will she help him "sketch" the new rules of business? An artist's simplicity amidst the dynamic corporate world!

Tusshar speaks on being the new Prem
Salman Khan has won most accolades after enacting Prem in many a Barjatya films. Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan didn't gain in a similar manner though for MAIN PREM KI DEEWANI HOON before Shahid Kapoor saw some acclaim coming his way for his portrayal of Prem in VIVAH.
Now Tusshar Kapoor is all set to follow suit as he gets rechristened as the new age Prem in Rajshri's LOVE U...MR. KALAKAAR!

"This is a young love story and would be pretty much identified by the youth in India today", says Tusshar whose leading lady in the film is Amrita Rao, "It talks about the romance and relationships in the lives of today's youngsters. Also, at the core of it all, there is family drama as well.
"Yes, it is today's film but at the same time, just like any other Rajshri film, this one too would have a definite Indian feel to it", says Tusshar who is currently neck deep shooting for GOLMAAL 3, "The film isn't restricted within any boundaries though. It would be identified by both urban audience as well as those on small towns. After all any guy or a girl will always fall in love at least once in life. This movie is for every such youngster."
Tusshar said, “I am excited and feel privileged to be doing a film with the Rajshris. In the first week of March their office had called my manager Sanjay and told him that they wanted to meet me. A few days later when I went to their office, Soorajji was there. He met me and went away while S Manasvi, a first time director from the Pune Institute, gave me the narration. I loved it and immediately said I’d do the film. They wanted a look test (with Amrita Rao) and now I am shooting in Filmcity for it! The first schedule started on July 6 and will end on August 15.”

A small twist in Rajshri’s thought process – the hero won’t be called Prem, a name made famous by Salman Khan. “My name is Saahil,” confirmed Tusshar. “I play a cartoonist. Being an artiste, I have a casual look, laidback and slightly unkempt. I wear jeans and shirts. I don’t have a stubble or wear glasses. It’s a romantic film, not a family drama. Amrita Rao is Ritu, a young, bubbly girl. It’s my first film with the Barjatyas and her second film with them (Vivaah).”

How is the rapport between Tusshar and Amrita? “She is so dedicated and methodical in her work. Our on-screen chemistry is good and we get along very well. We were meant to work together,” he said.Does Sooraj Bharjatya visit the sets? And how is it working with the Rajshri banner? “On the first day Soorajji came to wish us good luck, and once when he was in the area, he had dropped in to meet all of us,” answered Tusshar. “The set and the unit is different from the others I’ve worked with. Everyone is sweet and soft-spoken.

SALMAN KHAN  playing cameo in
LOVE U...MR. KALAKAAR!

The magical combination of Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya is back after a long wait of eleven years!

Vikas Kapoor, Salman’s business manager, said, “Soorajji met Salman for this cameo. Salman agreed.”

The dynamic actor-producer duo were responsible for some mega hits of the yesteryears such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain. But whilst Sallu won the hearts of the audiences as the lead role Prem in the 90's era, his venture this time with Sooraj will only last as a cameo in his latest flick titled, Love u...Mr Kalakar.

The buzz is that friendship between Salman and Sooraj goes way back to the days where both made their debut with the monster hit, Maine Pyar Kiya. Ever since, Salman is said to have garnered much respect for Sooraj and the Barjatya family alike. However, 'this was fate that they simply did not have another wonderful opportunity to work together again for a long time.

But Sooraj changed all that recently when he met Salman and requested him to do a cameo in his film. Of course Salman was heard to have said yes without a second thought.

Madhoo to make a comeback

Actress Madhoo who made her debut opposite Ajay Devgn in Phool Aur Kaante and won critical acclaim for her performance in Mani Ratnam’s Roja, is all set to make a comeback with a Rajshri Production film, Love You Mr. Kalakaar.

AMRITA RAO :- Then & Now

Bollwyood’s girl-next-door Amrita Rao shocked all and sundry when she shed her sedate look and featured on the cover page of fashion magazine Verve in a revealing red outfit. But she says it wasn’t a conscious move to change her image.

Amrita Rao's career was going downhill post Vivaah. To revive that, she shed her traditional girl-next-door image and donned a bikini, short dresses, oodles of padding, posed in itsy-bitsy clothes for lad rags, and adopted a new attitude to give her flagging career a new lease of life. However, all that failed as people rejected her glamorous image.  She is fast losing her fan base with people just considering another starlet taking "Shortcut" to fame.

Amrita say “It wasn’t a conscious decision to be bold or anything. It all depends on how different artists envision me. If Soorajji could see me as this simple, docile small town girl in “Vivah”, then another person saw me the way I am on the magazine cover. And if Farah Khan hadn’t seen me as the grungy rebellious babe in “Main Hoon Na” after “Ishq Vishk”, I wouldn’t have undergone such a change of image.”
